14 Sep In the spotlight: Alex Meinema
Meet Alex Meinema
Export Manager
Alex Meinema has the position of Export Manager. He supports our dealers, especially in the South of Europe, and is looking for new STYLE dealers to expand the market.
Who is Alex?
“My name is Alex Meinema and I have been living in Zaragoza, Spain for 38 years. I was born in the Netherlands and completed my studies here, which makes dealing with my Dutch colleagues and adapting to the company culture a lot easier. Years ago during a holiday in Spain I met my current wife. After a short period back in the Netherlands to fulfill my military service, I permanently returned to Spain.”
“I previously worked for the Spanish lathe manufacturer Pinacho and was responsible for North and South America and later also for the EU, Africa and the Near and Middle East. In an interim period of 2 years I also worked for a Spanish machine importer of Machining Centers and Slanted Bed Lathes from China and Taiwan.
The fact that Alex speaks Dutch is very useful for communicating with his Dutch colleagues, but he also speaks fluent Spanish, English and German and can handle himself very well in French and Portuguese. This, together with his commercial background and his extensive experience as an employee in all phases of the distribution column with the exception of the customer, made the position of Export Manager perfect for him.
What does a future day as an Export Manager look like?
The days can be divided into different aspects. I am then:
- Traveling to visit new dealers, make contact and spread the word about STYLE in the countries. I have been assigned to different countries.
- Working from home to conduct market research, write to prospective dealers, analyze new distributors and discuss daily sales issues with our relevant departments and dealers.
- Or I’m on my way for a follow-up to current dealers, customer visits together with their salespeople, technical support and encouraging them to sell STYLE CNC machines.
Why did you choose to work at STYLE?
“I have followed STYLE with suspicion since I started with the Spanish competitor. The contacts I had with the management of STYLE were already very good at the time, we just ‘clicked’. The characteristics of the company immediately appealed to me. STYLE is very customer-oriented, something that was handled differently at my previous employers. In addition, the company’s philosophy with regard to work, atmosphere, organization and culture also appeals to me enormously. I also really like the thinking behind the Nivora Foundation and its solid financial structure gives me the necessary stability and security for the future.”
“The working atmosphere is excellent and I receive help from my colleagues from all sides. I attach great importance to the team spirit that prevails at STYLE, even though I am 1,500 kilometers away. I have the right tools in my home office to do my job well here in Spain and that is nice. I like to write and visit as many dealers as possible and to explain STYLE’s philosophy with the aim of later putting it into practice.”
